Sue Ryder Care, which provides palliative and neurological care at 17 care centres around the UK as wellas HomeCare services, is largely reliant on donations from the public to supply its chain of just under 400 shops with quality clothes, bric-a-brac and books. The charity has now replaced its existing fleet of disparate vehicles with 25 Volkswagen LT 35 commercial vehicles, plus up to 10 Caddy vans. These will be supplied on five-year contract hire arrangements at 24,000 miles per annum with full maintenance. The commercial vehicle order comprises 17 Volkswagen LT 35 MWB 2.5TDi 109PS chassis cabs complete with Luton bodies and tail lifts and eight LT 35 MWB high roof 2.5TDi 109ps fully ply-lined panel vans, supplied through the Volkswagen Birmingham van centre. Roy Smith, central services manager at Sue Ryder Care, says: “We need our vehicles to be as reliable as possible. The ease of servicing was another prerequisite, as was the pricing of the vehicles and the need for identifiable maintenance costs. Volkswagen Group Leasing was able to satisfy all of our criteria and we had no hesitation in selecting them.” Graham Wheeler, Volkswagen Group Leasing MD, says: “We are delighted to be supplying, funding and maintaining the Sue Ryder Care fl eet and to be helping in the superb role that the charity performs. We look forward to a long and fruitful working relationship with them.“ |
