Having been saved from closure and undergone major refurbishment, the Victorian village school is now receiving a host of new equipment - including digital hand held video/stills cameras. The gadgets are being delivered thanks to employees at Volkswagen Financial Services (UK) Limited who have been collecting Tesco vouchers - donating more than 7,000 to the Great Linford infant school. "We are extremely grateful to staff at Volkswagen Financial Services for their support. The new camera in particular is of huge benefit to the pupils. They use it in every part of the curriculum - filming trips out, interviewing each other in English and RE, and also from a technology point of view they can edit the footage and link it onto the interactive whiteboard in class." Simon Page of VWFS said: "We are delighted to have helped St. Andrew's school. Every day we were seeing piles of Tesco vouchers on people's desks and we were determined to collect as many as possible for the school. As a local employer we feel it is important to support our community." St. Andrew's school has recently been graded as 'outstanding' in many areas and next year student numbers will increase to 45, which will be the full capacity of the school. "It's like a whole new school", added Anne. |
